Protect our watershed - learn and do
The Tualatin watershed is crucial to our community's well-being. Learn more about the conservation and restoration activities of the past and present that are ensuring the health of our watershed. Pick an action from the following options: 1) Switch to organic or slow-release fertilizers, 2) Replace a non-permeable surface with a permeable one, 3) Always pick up after pets (if you notice a location, park, or greenspace with a pet waste problem, find a way to improve the disposal infrastructure), 4) Plant tough/hardy plants that require little or no extra water/fertilizer, 5) Use roof water or greywater in the garden instead of having it run directly to the street or down the drain.

Cecelia Warner 5/11/2020 10:31 AMIf you live in Forest Grove, did you know you can choose to get your energy from the wind? It's their Pure Power Renewable Energy program. You can opt-in for as little as $4 a block. This link explains how it works: https://www.forestgrove-or.gov/lp/page/pure-power-renewable-energy. -
Cecelia Warner 5/07/2020 11:42 AMThe Forest Grove Farmers Markets will continue to offer hot food from local vendors. But the durable dish program won't be an option due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reduce the amount to single-use foodservice items by telling the server you have your own flatware, cloth napkin, and reusable straw so they don't need them to include them. You can keep these items in your purse, backpack, or car. Do this not just at the Market but whenever you get takeout food. It's an easy habit to establish.-
Jane Burch-Pesses 5/07/2020 12:33 PMSince this sheltering in place started Michael and I have put two spoons, two forks and one knife in the glove compartment of his car. We didn't do much take out before this. Now about once a week we will pick up some take out from New Seasons in Beaverton and drive down Miliken to the Tualitin Hills Nature Park, park in their parking lot and look at the trees, shrubs, birds, etc. while we eat in the car. Very pleasant.

Cecelia Warner 5/04/2020 1:11 PMI have a lot to say about so-called "biodegradable/compostable" dinnerware. But this flyer explains a lot. Just know this: In the Portland Metro region, they do NOT go in your curbside green waste roll cart!-
Jane Burch-Pesses 5/05/2020 8:39 AMHi, Cecelia. Which flyer are you referring to?
