Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 20 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Transportation
Try Carpooling
Carpooling
I will commute by carpool 10 mile(s) per day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Industry
Calculate the carbon footprint of my household
I will calculate the carbon emissions associated with my household and consider how different lifestyle choices could reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Smaller Portions
Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.
Industry
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bioplastics
I will avoid buying and using 3 single-use plastics and instead replace them with durable options.
Industry
Practice the 5 R's
Recycling
I will Practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.
Electricity
Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal Power
I will spend at least 15 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of geothermal energy and consider investing in this technology.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
More Fruits And Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cups of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Transportation
Use Muscle Power
Multiple Transportation Solutions
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Industry
Recycle Everything I Can
Recycling
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
bella wawrzyniak 5/15/2023 9:53 AMGeothermal power is generated through the piping of underground water and steam reservoirs to the surface in order to power turbines that produce electricity. It is a free heat source, and it is bountiful, and reliable. I can do more research and see what the US is doing to add geothermal power to our countries energy sources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
bella wawrzyniak 5/09/2023 10:25 AMWhen eating breakfast and lunch I decided to only take a small portion and get a second round if I still felt hungry. I ate all my food and felt full without having excess food scraps. I also didn't feel too full or sick because I was mindful about how much I was actually consuming. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
bella wawrzyniak 5/09/2023 10:24 AMInstead of sitting around during my break I decided to walk in town to get some fresh air. I got to chat with my dad and I really enjoyed getting to be outside. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Calculate the carbon footprint of my householdAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
bella wawrzyniak 5/08/2023 9:50 AMI calculated the carbon emissions of my house and it is equal to 6,572,350 phone charges and 6,000 gallons of gasoline. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
bella wawrzyniak 5/08/2023 9:46 AMI have to drive from my house to school everyday which is 20 miles away. my mom works very close to my school so we decided to drive together to cut down our carbon emissions. We have been saving a ton of gas by doing this as well.
