REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Beverly Wedda 5/23/2021 7:21 PMThis week was great for biking rather than driving places. My first bikeride into work for the season mid week, and a couple nice treks to our community garden. Gotta love these days with more daylight, as makes biking to work a great option! -
Beverly Wedda 5/02/2021 7:30 PMWe enjoyed a beautiful weekend here in the NC Triangle area. I spent much of the weekend gardening. Saturday at our community garden on Briggs Ave, and today with herbs and plants on our back deck. Feel so blessed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Beverly Wedda 5/02/2021 7:27 PMWe've started visiting different Nature Preserves that are part of the Triangle Land Conservancy this year. Today we went to the John and Sara Brumley area, South for a walk and exploration. I'm very grateful for the individuals and organizations who are giving so much to preserve our natural lands. And I was very moved by the story of the tragic untimely death of this Brumley family and many of their relatives in a plane crash. Then I also started thinking that our communities that suffer from Environmental Injustices all need similar conservancies to invest in protecting their surrounding natural lands too, and I wonder if many do. All that said, we enjoyed a really nice day. -
Beverly Wedda 4/25/2021 7:36 PMWhile I didnt complete one of my selected Drawdown Activities this weekend, I was definitely engaged in meaningful activities. I purchased our summer starter vegetable plants to grow our own organic veggies, volunteered at the community garden for a few hours, listened to the ERUUF Earth Day Service (so powerful), attended a Plant Based Eating and Environmental Impact lecture by a fellow ERUUF member, moved wood chips to a plant bed in our community that needed some TLC, and have been catching some Food Revolution Summit lectures on the many benefits of Plant Based eating including for Mother Earth. Feeling inspired! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Learn More about Regenerative AgricultureClean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?
Beverly Wedda 4/13/2021 7:27 PMBy improving soil health, it will help reduce erosion issues too. Soil microbiome will improve, which will improve human microbiome and health. We'll have improved biodiversity. We'll have happier animals. -
Beverly Wedda 4/13/2021 7:23 PMToday I spent about 90 minutes moving wood chips to plant beds in our community, to help with erosion and to nurture the soil -
Beverly Wedda 4/12/2021 7:21 PMAfter a long workday, deciding to delay until tomorrow my next learning activity. I've already found renewed energy and commitment by my initial engagement with this years Ecochallenge, so I think it's good to return to this on an intermittent basis. -
Beverly Wedda 4/11/2021 7:36 PMI so appreciate that I can safely and easily bike from home to spend. Time nurturing our Briggs Ave Community Garden plot. Was such a beautiful day to enjoy that outing! -
Beverly Wedda 4/11/2021 7:34 PMI found the video and information about methane digesters both fascinating and inspiring. To think that the waste can be used to create energy and power, and natural fertilization, is amazing.
