REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building ResilienceWhat did you learn on your green roof tour?
Natasha Williams 11/01/2021 6:58 AMDuring my green roof tour I learned that this seven-arch roof went from black top to a green oasis that is the home to 29 bird species, bees, and bats. This green roof absorbs seven million gallons of rain water a year and has allowed them to reduce there energy consumption by 26% . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Natasha Williams 10/23/2021 6:25 AMWhat has had the biggest impact on my decision making is knowing the difference between Best by and Sell by. I always thought that Best by was another expiration date but it’s actually informing consumers when the product is at its best quality. While Sell by is used by manufacturing companies to make certain there is proper turnover. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
Natasha Williams 10/23/2021 6:01 AMAnother R that I have added to my daily practice is to refill instead of buying items with new packaging. I will especially be using this R of regifting during holiday season. I will be reusing gift bags and tissue paper and donating to gently used toys from my children. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Natasha Williams 10/03/2021 6:34 PMOther benefits that came from eating/serving smaller portions is less food is wasted and not over eating which can leave to serious help issues. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & RenewalMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Natasha Williams 9/27/2021 3:29 PMWhen I’m eating undistracted i can focus on my food and ensure that I’m chewing it enough so I don’t choke which happens when I’m distracted.
