  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

donate money and help companys and groups that support it
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?

using less lights in the house
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Invite a friend to calculate the carbon footprint of their household
What kinds of discussions did you have, or are you hoping to have with friends about climate change?

    Hunter Wilson's avatar
    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:49 PM
Simple things they can do to change it and how it is effecting this planet
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Calculate the carbon footprint of my household
After you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?

    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:48 PM
Yes, there were meaning things I could do to help mostly drive less if possible or ride with others
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?

    Hunter Wilson's avatar
    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:42 PM
I learn how much it cost to build and keep up on maintenance.  It takes a lot more energy to build them sense they are in the ocean and will be harder to make the energy it took to build them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Advocate for Solar Installation
How does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

    Hunter Wilson's avatar
    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:40 PM
They are a good option for green energy.  The more energy your earn from solar panels can be sold to the power company and you pay less.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Learn More about Biomass
Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

    Hunter Wilson's avatar
    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:37 PM
Yes, I have heard of it in high school.  What surprised me is what they consider biomass, making eating from burning trees or even trash in some areas.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

    Hunter Wilson's avatar
    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:34 PM
On top of our mountains like Mt Mitchell which is the tallest mountain East of the Mississippi

    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:30 PM
I found out how many options there is out there that I have not heard of before.  How affordable it can be for most people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Hunter Wilson's avatar
    Hunter Wilson 7/19/2022 9:28 PM
I would want the community to not waste things.  What would need to change is for everyone to see the problem and to start doing things to help fix it.
