Test Drive an Electric Bike

Electric Bicycles

I will test drive an electric bike at a local distributor to see if it makes sense to use one in place of my car, or to extend the area I can cover by bike.

Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

In usual circumstances, I drive and get takeout food all the time, so I do take many small trips. If I were to buy an electric bike, I could use it to make my small trips to get food or groceries. The only problem with having an electric bike is I could not use it to get to school because I have a 20 minute drive, which is a longer distance than most bikes.

How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

Driving less has increased my engagement in my community. I live very close to my sister, so I would either ride my bike or ride my skateboard to her house. After I got there, we would ride our bikes or skateboards to a restaurant close to her house. I get enjoyment out of getting exercise while also saving the environment little by little.

Semester is almost over, and my daily challenge is going very well. I rarely live my house due to quarantine, so I am only driving for necessary things.

Daily challenge is going very well. I am not having to go anywhere so I am limiting my car miles by a large margin.

I was able to do this before quarantine started and forgot to record it, but I tested out an electric bike and it was very interesting. I like how it doesn't burn any fuel, making it better for the environment, but I do not like how limited the distance is. If I were to drive it to school and back, I would not be able to drive anywhere else until it was charged back up. I would recommend an electric bike for someone that lives very close to school and who doesn't have to drive on the interstate.
