One-Time Challenge Reflection:
I spent some time on the internet researching women-owned businesses and the types of industries they appear in to see how I could better support women in my consumerism. Knowing that these businesses are available and being aware of what they offer is a good way for me to strategize any future purchases that I may want to make. Inc's "20 Fastest-Growing Female-Founded Companies" list shows women running businesses in any industry you can think of from cookie dough to solar power. The "Women Owned" movement's website corroborates this finding with their list of the businesses they're partnered with and sponsoring. Having these lists from now on and being aware of the many different companies led by women is a key to doing my part in helping women succeed in the realm of business, as over half of these women still encounter bias in the process of building their brands.

Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?

I've been exposed to a lot of local female-run franchises and businesses through my mother's connections with them through her co-workers and the fact that my town is on the smaller side. Now that I'm making my own money, however, I can look more into supporting these businesses. Women are, in my opinion, one of the central supports of a community even without being business owners, and every step of further investment into the community only helps. It can never hurt.

Check-Ins for Daily Challenge:
January: I started logging my challenge later into the month, but knew I wanted to do something involving transportation since that's an everyday encounter for me during the school year. Living off-campus means there are varied ways to get to class each day depending on time constraints. I decided on the bus because that's a steady and usually reliable form of transport.

February: I used the bus very consistently this month throughout the week. Towards the end of the month and into early March as the weather warmed up and was more bearable, I began walking and scootering more regularly as emissions-free substitutes for the bus.

March: After relocating home, I haven't used transportation much at all, and neither has my family.

How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

I am unfortunately no longer staying in Knoxville. I have relocated to my hometown during the pandemic, but as a result of this, my access to transportation as a whole has decreased. I don't use my car to go nearly anywhere anymore, which has probably seriously decreased my emissions over the past two months.
