"Humans impact the physical environment in many ways: overpopulation, pollution, burning fossil fuels, and deforestation. Changes like these have triggered climate change, soil erosion, poor air quality, and undrinkable water." If people would stop polluting the air and stop all of the bad things their doing to our environment, the future can be safer and cleaner for our kids and their kids and so on.

Industry Learn about the impact of old refrigerants
Why are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?

    River Chambers 6/10/2021 7:55 AM
"Due to the use of refrigerant cooling is a privilege that can have a negative impact on the environment. Refrigerants cause damage to the ozone layer and contribute to global warming, and while there have been some efforts to reduce the impact, a climate-friendly refrigerant is yet to be discovered."

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

    River Chambers's avatar
    River Chambers 6/01/2021 5:34 AM
People in richer countries consume not only more calories and more proteins per day than those in poorer countries , but a larger fraction of their protein intake comes from animal-based products, especially, meat.
A diet heavy in meat increases the risk of obesity, cancer, and heart disease. But it also makes the planet sick. The livestock sector — raising cows, pigs, and chickens — generates as much greenhouse gas emissions as all cars, trucks, and automobiles combined.

Action Track: Healing & Renewal Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

When I eat mindfully, I am enjoying my food and not just inhaling it. I feel more full when I am not eating with distractions. So I have practiced and gotten better at not eating with any screens or other major distractions.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    River Chambers's avatar
    River Chambers 4/22/2021 11:24 AM
I would rather use this money on bills or payments my parents need to pay. I would also put this money to college for me. That is very important to me and my family so instead of wasting it I would put it to better uses.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    River Chambers's avatar
    River Chambers 4/22/2021 11:21 AM
By not using a large plate a filling the whole thing up, using a small plate helps because it can make you feel full since you ate the whole small plate and your mind thinks you ate a whole large plate. it can also help with losing weight. by eating less food with a smaller plate and adding exercise into that you can lose weight.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

    River Chambers's avatar
    River Chambers 4/22/2021 11:18 AM
If I peel my veggies for meals, I can either not peel my veggies and just eat them like that, or I can add the peels to the meals in some way. I will save not waste.

    Land Sinks Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    River Chambers's avatar
    River Chambers 4/22/2021 10:23 AM
I can support organizations trying to save peatlands so they don't turn into a plantation that typically pollutes the air.
