How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Exploring different parts of coastline provides an understanding of local nature and artistic heritage.
On a weekend away in Suffolk, east England, we discovered many wonderful fishing practices but that other wildlife is being impacted by power lines. For example deer and turtle doves.
While the giant scallop, crafted locally, provides a place to rest and contemplate.
With the cold Winter and the snow fall we got these past couple of days, it definitely helps to have consistent temperature in the house with the proper insulation without making the furnace work too hard
At the beginning of the pandemic, my daughter and I created a peaceful meditation area in our garden. Looking forward to creating this with her again in a few weeks. :-)
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?
I’ll answer this with a quote by Robin Wall Kimmerer, “The pecan trees and their kin show a capacity for concerted action, for unity of purpose that transcends the individual trees. They ensure somehow that all stand together and thus survive.”
With it being Winter and snowing outside, my walking was at a medium pace, inside, on a treadmill. I listened to tranquil music and had a diffuser with essential oils on to make it a meditative walk.
